Day Camp - Trails End (Completed 2nd to 5th Grades)

2020 Trails End
Trails End Day Camp will be held at Robert Crown Memorial State Beach Park and will emphasize nature and the outdoors, and of course...FUN!  Explore and enjoy the exciting adventures of the outdoors with hiking, archery, camp skills (i.e., orienteering), games, and nature crafts.  This program is open to those who are ages 7 to 11 years AND completed 2nd through 5th Grades. 
Each camper will get their very own commemorative t-shirt to celebrate our 71st year of Day Camp in Alameda!  Full payment is required at time of registration.
Pre-registration is required for our Day Camp Program.  A $20 administrative fee will be added for any changes made after your original registration.  If you register over the weekend for that week's session, please bring your receipt to your program site on Monday site.
Scheduled activities are subject to change.

**ARPD Disclaimer:  Registrations that are emailed, faxed or dropped off could have delayed processing.  Registering online will be your best opportunity to secure a spot in one of the ARPD Programs!  If your desired program is full, place your child on the waiting list as additional program may be added to meet the demand of registration.

Please Note:
Please provide details regarding your child's medical needs and/or any physical, emotional or developmental disabilities they may have.  Safety is of the utmost importance for all ARPD participants.  Providing ARPD with this information is necessary so that we may determine if and how we can safely support your child.  Accommodations are made on a case-by-case basis with a Program Supervisor. 
 ARPD PROGRAMS FOLLOW ALL STATE, COUNTY AND EAST BAY REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT HEALTH PROTOCOLS

ARPD summer programs will emphasize:

  • Recreational Activities (sports, active games, fitness)
  • Enrichment Activities (arts & crafts, science, passive & social games, cooking)
  • Youth Development (safety community/team building, positive relationship building, skill building)

Programs will incorporate all of the normal AWESOME activities, just with additional measures taken by ARPD Staff to ensure the safety of participants and their families.  All programs will spend the majority of the program day enjoying activities outdoors.

CLOTHING:

Your camper should dress warmly each day (long pants, short sleeve shirt, sturdy closed-toe shoes, jacket, socks and sunscreen).  PLEASE LABEL ALL CLOTHING.  LONG PANTS are suggested due to poison oak, stinging nettle and ticks in the area.  Campers need sturdy closed-toe shoes for trail hiking.  NO sandals or backless shoes, please.

SUNSCREEN:
Please apply sunscreen on child before he/she attends camp.  For safety purposes, we encourage you to send sunscreen with your child.  Staff will periodically remind children to apply their sunscreen.
LUNCH:
Please send your child with a packed lunch unless notified otherwise.  Put in a heavy bag or day pack and identify it with camper's name.
MATERIALS:
Do not send along any camp equipment such as:  axes, knives, etc.  No electronics or games at Day Camp.  Day packs, compasses and water bottles are okay.
INCLEMENT WEATHER:
Camp will meet rain or shine.  In case of rain, provide rain gear.
MEDICAL EXAMINATION:
If is strongly recommended that each camper have a physical examination.  A tetanus or booster shot is also recommended.  Consult your family physician.  It is best to have your camper shower immediately upon arriving home, particularly because of the poison oak.  Be sure camper gets sufficient rest each night to be ready for camp.

Trails End Day Camp will be held at Robert Crown Memorial State Beach Park in Alameda.

A week before your camp session, you will be sent a letter and instructions via email for parking which must be presented to gain access to the parking lot. 

All parents/guardians need to check their camper in and out of Trails End with the Camp Leader daily.  The check in area is located on the grass field adjacent to the parking lot at the Otis Drive/Westline Drive entrance to Robert Crown Memorial State Beach Park.  DO NOT BE LATE AS WE HAVE A BUSY DAY SCHEDULED FOR OUR CAMPERS.

Please do not be late picking up your child from Trails End at the end of the camp day.  There is a $1 per minute late fee per child for every minute you are late picking up your child - payable that day.

 

 

WOW-X CARE:
WOW-X Care will be available before and after at Washington Park for Trails End Day Campers.  Participant must be registered in Trails End Day Camp first, and then register for the corresponding WOW-X program.  Please note that campers must have completed Kindergarten through 4th Grades as of Summer 2024 to qualify for the WOW-X program.  Pre-registration is required for our Day Camp program.

You must cancel by Monday of the week prior to the start of your program session and there is a $20 withdrawal fee.  For cancellations made thereafter, there is no guarantee for a refund unless your spot can be filled by another participant.  The $20 withdrawal fee is still charged if a substitute is found.
