Elks Hoop Shoot Competition

A national event, this contest is sponsored locally by the Alameda Elks Lodge #1015 and conducted by the Alameda Recreation and Park Department.  Over 3 million youth from throughout the country enter the competition annually.  This contest is FREE and  consists of shooting free throws.

This free throw contest is open to boys and girls 8 to 13 years old and who attend a school or reside in the city of Alameda (see below for specific Age Classifications)

The Elks Hoop Shoot Competition will start on October 14 and end on December 13, 2019

The contest consists of shooting free throws and each contestant has 25 shots at the hoop.  A child may compete as many times as he or she wishes.

Classifications are as follows:

  • Class A:  12 to 13 YearsThis division is open to youth who do not reach their 14th birthday before April 1, 2020.
  • Class B:  10 to 11 Years:  This division is open to youth who do not reach their 12th birthday before April 1, 2020.
  • Class C:  8 to 9 Years:  This division is open to youth who do not reach their 10th birthday before April 1, 2020.  7 year olds who reach their 8th birthday before April 1, 2020 are also eligible in this category.

The top three finalists in each division are eligible to represent their park or club at the Alameda City-Wide Finals scheduled to be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Alameda Point Gymnasium.

The winners in each division will go on to represent the City of Alameda and the Alameda Elks at the District Shoot-Off in late January.
