Alameda's Porch of July - Celebrate From Home

City-wide contest celebrating the City of Alameda & the Fourth of July

Saturday and Sunday, July 3 & 4, 2021

Let's all celebrate the Fourth of July weekend and let our Alameda pride shine. Decorate your porch, yard, front window or vehicle, to win prizes and show your community spirit. 



 Please pick the one category that your entry fits into best.
All entries will be eligible to also win the People's Choice Award.

Most Star-Spangled Spirit
Best fourth of July achievement in patriotic spirit and enthusiasm.

Postcards from Alameda
Best re-creation or representation of a local historic event, landmark or unique feature of Alameda.

Fun in the Sun
Most community spirit and celebration of life on the Island.

Boogie on the Bay
Best live performance by a band, dance or theatrical group.

People's Choice Award
Most online votes from friends and neighbors.

  • All entries will be judged on originality, creativity, execution of theme and overall spirit.
  • Points will be awarded equally for each criteria category. 
  • Each entry will be judged on a 100 point scale.
  • The winning entries will be announced on July 6 at the City Council Meeting. 7:00pm (subject to change).
  • Contest participants will need to take a 30-60 second video of their entry and post it to our online contest portal by Friday, July 2. Instructions on how and where to post your video will be sent once registered and approved.
  • Bands and live performances should be prepared to have at least one performance on each day and provide show times on entry form. 
  • A virtual map of all entries will be provided on multiple platforms. All entrants will be sent a link directly. 
  • We invite friends and neighbors to safely walk, drive, or bike by the entries on Saturday and Sunday between noon and 7:00pm. Visitors will be able to vote for the people's Choice Award online from noon on July 3 until 7:00pm and July 4
  • A group of independent judges will view all entries for the other award categories.
  • City of Alameda is committed to provide a safe, family-friendly environment where all people are treated with kindness and respect. We ask all participants to adhere to these guidelines. 
  • Any vulgar, offensive, or sexual-explicit material/themes/lyrics are not allowed. 
  • Entries shall not include or block any public street or sidewalk, to maintain continuous flow of traffic.
  • No fireworks of any kind are permitted.
  • ARPD reserves the right to disqualify any entry for not adhering to the above rules and regulations. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Contestants agree to practice and uphold current CDC and ACPHD social distancing guidelines.
