About the Alameda Recreation and Park Department (ARPD)
ARPD is proud to be the third oldest park system in the State of California with 21 parks serving more than 15,000 people annually. ARPD is organized into three divisions: Recreation Services - providing activities for toddlers, children, teens, families and adults; Mastick Senior Center - offering services to adults 50 and better; and Park Maintenance - tending to and keeping our parks clean and safe. We strive to be resourceful, responsive and collaborative as an integral part of our island city.
ARPD offers a broad array of programs, camps, classes, community events, and park and facility management to empower people of all abilities and ages.
ARPD responsibilities include: planning and implementation of programs and activities; rental, operation and maintenance of athletic facilities, parks, picnic areas, playgrounds, and recreation centers; and administration of the operational contract for Corica Park.
ARPD manages renovation of existing facilities and development of new parks and recreation facilities, including securing funding and project management. Additionally, ARPD develops programs and projects valuable to the quality of life for the Alameda community and beyond.
