Planned Detours

  • May 26, 2020: Slow Streets (street closures to through traffic) will be expanded to Pacific (from Grand to 9th) and Santa Clara (from 6th to Pacific) 
  • June 1-mid-June: Construction work to improve pedestrian safety will begin on June 1, 2020, at Fernside Boulevard and Harvard Drive. The project includes the installation of a wireless solar, LED Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon crosswalk system with push buttons, concrete and asphalt work, striping, and signage. The project is expected to be complete by the middle of June 2020. Construction work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. During construction, motorists may experience minor disruptions in traffic, temporary loss of parking spaces, and noise and dust. Bus stop access will be maintained throughout the project.

     

Existing Detours

  • Slow Streets: The following Slow Streets are closed to through traffic: Pacific Avenue from Grand Street to Oak Street and Versailles Avenue from Central Avenue to Fernside Boulevard
  • Posey Tube Cyclist and Pedestrian Shuttle: Caltrans is operating a free shuttle for cyclists and pedestrians while work is completed on the sidewalk inside the Posey Tube between downtown Oakland and Alameda. The shuttle will run every 15 minutes between the Posey ventilation building parking lot in Alameda and Chinese Garden Park at 275 Seventh St. in Oakland. The sidewalk closure is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice. Motor vehicle traffic will not be affected by the closure, according to Caltrans.
