Request for Residential Disabled Parking Zone

Do you have a disability? Do you live in the City of Alameda? Would you benefit from having a Residential Disabled Parking Zone near you? You can apply for the City to place a Disabled Parking Zone in front of your home or place of residence.

Step 1.Be sure you are eligible for a Disabled Parking Zone

Do you have a disability?   This service is provided ONLY for residents who are disabled and do NOT have access to off-street parking.

Step 2.Prepare what you will need to Complete the Form

Please be sure you have the following things with you before you start the process.

  • Signed letter from physician
  • Proof of not having off street parking (photographs)
  • Current & valid disabled parking permit
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid vehicle registration

Renters will also need:

  1. Written approval from the property owner approving the disabled parking zone.
  2. Signed Liability Waiver & General Release of All Claims by property owner

Step 4.What Happens Next?

  1. Application will be review to determine eligibility.
  2. You will be notified in 30 days of your eligibility. If you are approved, a special noticing will be sent out in your neighborhood informing your neighbors of the new disabled parking zone.
  3. Upon approval a work order will be created for the maintenance crew and/or contractor to schedule the work for the curb painting and the installation of the special signage.
