The City of Alameda is seeking proposals from qualified non-profits and public entities for Cultural Art and Arts Programming. There is a total of $60,000 available, to be distributed across four grants by the Public Art Commission.
Cultural arts or arts programming may include, but is not limited to:
- performance arts: theatre, dance, music;
- literary arts: poetry reading and storytelling;
- film and video;
- screenings and installations;
- arts education;
- art lectures and presentations;
- special events: festivals and celebrations; and
- artist-in-residence programs in the arts.
- Cultural arts or arts programming must be accessible to the public at no charge, and located in the City of Alameda.
Although all non-profit arts organizations, public agencies and fiscally sponsored organizations are eligible, local organizations are particularly encouraged to propose and will receive a point preference as part of the evaluation process. See the Selection Criteria section for more information.

Application Timeline
The City hosted a Grant Writing for the Arts webinar on February 4, 2026 with Kimberley Acebo Arteche. The webinar provided an introduction to grant writing for the arts and expanding arts funding opportunities. You can view a recording via the link below.

All proposals must be submitted through cityofalameda.submittable.com. To be considered for a grant, proposals must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on March 19, 2026.
These grant funds are for events taking place between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027.

Evaluation Timeline
The proposals will be evaluated by the Public Art Commission during the April PAC meeting, thereafter, the grants will be brought to City Council to award in May or June. Please note, this timeline is subject to change.
