On Tuesday, September 7, 2021, all three Alameda Free Library locations will be resuming their full service hours. The community will once again have access to in-person services such as holds pickup at the branches, access to study rooms, computer drop-in assistance, computer courses, in-person programs for adults and teens, and limited children’s in-person programming. The Stafford Community Room, Dewey’s Café, and in-person children’s storytimes will be available at a later date. For the safety of staff and of the public, a face mask covering the mouth and nose is required at all times for everyone two years old and older.
Library Locations & Hours:
Throughout the pandemic, the Alameda Free Library has understood the importance of offering library services to the community. When the library had to close its doors, staff pivoted from traditional library services to offering virtual programs for all ages, though the Library Takeout program, grab bags, online computer assistance, wireless printing, and more. Library staff has been hard at work developing a phased reopening plan that has continually added more in-person services while following state and local health and safety protocols. Staff is excited to have all service hours restored and is looking forward to serving the community at all three Alameda Free Library locations.
Alameda Free Library is wheelchair accessible. The Main Library is served by AC
Transit routes 21 and 51A. West End Library is served by AC Transit Routes 20 and 51A. Bay Farm Island Library is served by AC Transit Route 21. Bicycle parking racks are available at the Main and West End Library. Bay Farm Island bike racks are currently unavailable.
