To make library materials more accessible to community members who have returned to work or school, the Alameda Free Library will offer evening hours for Library Takeout curbside pickup service on Mondays.
New Library Takeout hours starting Monday, November 9, 2020:
Monday 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Tuesday through Friday 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Library Takeout is a service for library card holders to pick up books, DVDs, magazines, and other physical materials that have been requested/placed on hold.
Here is how the service works:
Place holds on the materials you want to check out either online or by calling 510-747-7740 during the times listed above.
When your materials are ready you will receive notification. Call the library at 510-747-7740 during Library Takeout hours to make an appointment to pick up your holds. You must have an appointment to pick up your materials.
All materials will be available at the Main Library only. However, you may return library materials to the drop boxes at any of the three Alameda libraries.
When you arrive please make sure to wear a mask and be ready to show staff your library card or a photo ID. Your materials will already be checked out to you and ready to go.
If you are physically unable to walk to the library’s entrance, please make that clear when making your appointment so that special arrangements can be made.
While buildings are closed we continue to offer virtual library programs for all ages, email reference help, curbside pickup for library materials, eResources, and personalized reading recommendations. For more information go to https://www.alamedafree.org
Alameda Free Main Library is located at 1550 Oak Street and is wheelchair accessible. The Main Library is served by AC Transit routes 21 and 51A. Bicycle parking racks are available at the library.
