I Am Alameda – Your Photos Needed!
The Alameda Free Library and the Alameda community, as part of our Summer Reading Challenge, will be creating a photomosaic showing all the different people, places, and things that make Alameda such a special place to live. It takes a lot of “I’s” (people, animals, buildings, trees, beaches, and more) to create the “We” that is Alameda. And we need your help to showcase it all!
In order for this to be successful, we need copies of your Alameda photos that can be cut to create the mosaic. Printed photos may be dropped off at any of the Alameda Free Library locations:
• Main Library – 1550 Oak Street
• West End Library – 788 Santa Clara Avenue
• Bay Farm Island Library – 3221 Mecartney Road
Please note that the photos are for the “I Am Alameda” project. Photos will be accepted from now until July 8. We are requesting printed photos, if possible, as opposed to digital photos, to save on printing costs.
Would you like to help put this photomosaic together? Join the team on Mosaic Creation Day, Saturday, July 20, from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Main Library. We’ll need help sorting photos into colors, cutting out photos, and attaching them to the base.
Once the photomosaic is complete, it will be unveiled at the End of Summer Reception at the main Library on July 31, 5:30-7:00 pm, and will continue to hang in the Main Library during the month of August. If your location would like to host the artwork after that time, or if you’d like more information on the project, please contact the Reference Desk at 510-747-7713.
