In 2022, the Alameda Fire Department partnered with the California State Fire Training to become an Accredited Local Academy (ALA). State Fire Training (SFT) is the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) division that establishes, develops, and delivers standardized training and education for the California Fire Service. OSFM accredits academic institutions and fire agencies to deliver fire training and education. An Accredited Local Academy (ALA) is defined as a partnership between a fire agency serving a specific authority having jurisdiction and the OSFM to deliver approved State Fire Training curriculum within a given region.

This accreditation as an ALA provides the Alameda Fire Department the opportunity to train and test new Recruits to the Firefighter 1 & 2 State Fire Training standard in which they will become certified through OSFM at the national standard.
