In December 2020, the City completed our annual street repair project. About 70% of this project utilized a treatment called cape seal, where rubber chips were applied to the roadway surface and then coated with a slurry seal. The rubber chips were manufactured from recycled rubber tires that originated and were processed in California. Through this project, 9,143 waste tires were diverted from the waste stream and converted into rubber chips. A map of the cape seal locations can be found here:
