In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alameda City Council has taken action to:
- Add eviction protections for residential and commercial tenants
- Create rent relief programs for residential tenants and small businesses
- Stop residential rent increases in rent-controlled units until 60 days after the City Council rescinds the local emergency, which has not happened yet
- Fund legal services for low-income tenants
ALAMEDA COUNTY HAS RENTAL FUNDS AVAILABLE
The Alameda County Housing Secure Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ACHS-ERAP) is currently accepting applications. ACHS-ERAP will help income-eligible households pay rent and utilities, both for past due and future payments. The federal Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 provides funding to support the program. For information about the ACHS-ERAP, its guidelines or application, please visit the website: www.ac-housingsecure.org/.
Please note that this Program differs from the City of Alameda Program. Therefore, regardless of your application with the City of Alameda Emergency Rent Relief Program, you may apply to the ACHS-ERAP.
