The City will continue to collaborate with Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda (CASA), the Alameda Chamber of Commerce, and other partners to provide education around critical issues to allow the community to develop a better understanding of the benefits of certain greenhouse gas mitigation and resilience actions, increasing their likelihood of participating. Similarly, education around how to participate is equally valuable to empower community members to take action and change behaviors.
Likewise, a public engagement and education campaign can enhance procedural equity by ensuring all community members, particularly socially vulnerable populations, have access to information about climate change hazards and the programs available to them. Providing a mix of in-person, online, and meeting people where they are engagement opportunities can help to ensure equitable participation and access to information.
