Applications, Appointments and Vacancies

Any resident of Alameda interested in serving on a Board or Commission is invited to submit an online application.  The application forms for the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners (HABOC) differ and can be completed here: HABOC Member-at-Large online application or HABOC Tenant Member online application

 

Alternatively, a downloadable application(PDF, 329KB) can be completed. HABOC downloadable applications: HABOC Member-at-Large application(PDF, 179KB) or HABOC Tenant Member application(PDF, 239KB).  Applications can be filed with the City Clerk’s office via email: clerk@alamedaca.gov or mail/hand delivery: 2263 Santa Clara Avenue, Room 380, Alameda, CA 94501. 

 

Please note that information that you submit to the City is subject to the California Public Records Act and may be disclosed upon request from a member of the public.  Applications are valid for one year.  Applicants are considered for any vacancies that occur during the year their application is valid.  If you remain interested in serving and are not appointed within a year of submitting your application, please be sure to submit a new, updated application.  Applicants are encouraged to review the City's Code of Conduct.

The appointment process involves two steps: 1) the Mayor makes a nomination at a City Council meeting, and 2) the City Council considers a resolution of appointment at the following City Council meeting.  Nominees are notified and invited to attend the City Council meeting when the resolution of appointment is considered.  Applicants not appointed are considered for any other vacancies that occur during the year their application is valid.  

 

Following appointment, new Board and Commission members have to complete a Statement of Economic Interests Form 700, Sunshine Ordinance Declaration and Code of Conduct Member Statement.
