Request a Copy of a Police Report

If you would like to request a copy of your police report, request can be made in person, through mail, or by email. 
Confidential information has been removed in accordance with Section 6254 (f) of the California Government Code/public records act or the TNG Order of the Alameda County Superior Court/Juvenile Division. 

Effective immediately (7/7/2021): the Alameda Police Department will resume the collection of fees for copies of criminal reports. Please contact the records unit directly if you have any questions regarding payments.

Step 1.Gather your documents

  • Valid drivers license of an involved party or a signed authorization form if you are a legal representative of the listed party
  • A completed and signed records request for release form

Use must have a standing legal right to receive the information, the records request for release form list those authorized. Some reports are not released in their entirety, and other may not be released at all. 

Step 2.Submit documents for processing

  • Proceed to the Alameda Police Department's - Records Window, 1555 Oak Street
  • Present valid ID, or authorization form
  • Present completed records request for release form

Step 3.Retrieving requested reports

Once you have submitted your records request for release form, the Alameda Police Department has up to 10 days to respond to your request. When the report request is completed, the requesting party will be contacted and directed to pick up the report(s) in person. 

Step 4.Cost for reports

Payment is due upon pick up of completed report. Total payment is subject to releasable information and length of report. 

  • Copy of incident cards: $5.00
  • Copy of crime reports: $5.00

Mail a the following documents to the Alameda Police Department's, Attn: Records Unit, 1555 Oak Street, Alameda, CA 94501

  • A clear copy of a valid ID, or authorization form,
  • the completed records request for release form

Step 3.Retrieving requested reports

Once you have submitted your records request for release form, the Alameda Police Department has up to 10 days from date received to respond to your request. When the report request is completed, a copy of the redacted report will be mailed back to the listed address.
