Alameda Fire Department 150th Anniversary Event

Alameda, Calif – The Alameda Fire Department will celebrate its 150th anniversary on Saturday, August 29, 2026, with a free community event at Fire Station 1, located at 1300 Park Street, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The public is invited to join firefighters, city officials, and community partners in commemorating a century and a half of service to the City of Alameda.
Founded in 1876, the Alameda Fire Department has grown alongside the city it serves, evolving from a volunteer bucket brigade into a modern, full-service department equipped to respond to fires, medical emergencies, and disasters of all kinds. The 150th anniversary event offers residents a rare opportunity to step back in time while looking ahead to the department's future.
"This milestone belongs to every firefighter who has served this community over the past 150 years, and to the residents who have trusted us to protect them," said Fire Chief Luby. "We wanted to mark the occasion with our community, who have supported us for the past 150 years."
Event activities include:

●Presentation of the colors by the Boy Scouts of America, Alameda
●CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) information
●Kids can spray water from firehoses with our Alameda Firefighters
●Free plastic fire helmets
●Blood pressure checks
●Hot dogs and hamburgers served by Alameda Firefighters, Local 689
●Birthday Cake with sing-along to celebrate
The Alameda Fire Department invites residents, businesses, neighbors, and the media to join in this special celebration. For 150 years, the department's commitment to this community has never wavered — and this milestone is an opportunity to celebrate that legacy while looking forward to the next 150 years of service.
