The following incidents represent a selection of the police activity that took place in October 2025. A complete monthly summary can be found at www.alamedaca.gov/data.
Road Closure: On 10/10, at 12:47 am, an officer observed a vehicle operating in an unsafe manner and initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Broadway and Santa Clara Avenue. After providing the officer with their information, the driver spontaneously shifted the vehicle into drive and fled from the scene. Since officers had already identified the driver, they did not engage in a pursuit. A few moments later the suspect’s vehicle was seen driving through the control gates of the Miller Sweeney (Fruitvale) Bridge. The bridge sustained significant damage resulting in an extended road closure. The driver was determined to be on probation and had an outstanding warrant. The case was referred to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. #25-05664
Speed Contest: On 10/11, at 10:29 pm, an officer observed two vehicles that appeared to be racing along Harbor Bay Parkway. The officer initiated a traffic stop on one of the vehicles and issued the driver a citation for engaging in a motor vehicle speed contest. The second driver is still outstanding. #25-05691
Investigation update: On 9/28 at 12:58 pm, officers responded to the 800 block of Marina Village Parkway for the report of a robbery. After a detailed investigation, officers identified the suspect and their vehicle. On 10/2 at 2:40 pm, an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) notification advised detectives that the vehicle was driving around town. During an area check, a detective observed the vehicle operating in an unsafe manner and initiated a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, the driver displayed signs of intoxication. The detective also observed multiple opened containers in plain sight. The driver was arrested for DUI and was identified as the suspect involved in the September robbery investigation. #25-05409 / #25-05495
