Alameda launches new City website to better serve residents

The City of Alameda launched an updated website today at www.alamedaca.gov, with a fresh look that improves access, transparency, usability, and better serves our residents. At the same time, we are launching a new website for the Alameda Free Library at www.alamedafree.org.

New features on the City’s website include:

  • Homepage with quick links to the most frequently accessed pages, news, events, and social media
  • A fully functional search engine
  • Accessible on all devices including mobile
  • Accessible in multiple languages
  • City calendar that includes City meetings and other community events

The new City website is organized to meet the needs of our residents and has all the tools current users are familiar with, including SeeClickFix for service requests and Granicus to view City meeting agendas and watch live broadcasts of City meetings. It also offers new tools, including a new resident guide and visualization of police data. The new website is built using the OpenCities platform, which offers staff analytics that allow regular updates based on usage. Over the next 12 months, we will continue to improve the website, including adding additional online forms and services. The City’s budget includes $18,000 in annual costs to maintain the City website.

We designed and built this website for our residents. The new site is more engaging and keeps the interests of our residents and businesses at the forefront. And while we talked with many people in the process of building the new website, the City’s website is a work in progress. Please click on the banner at the top of the page to leave us feedback about your experience and share your ideas for how we can serve you better.
