Alameda County Pauses Reopening Plan

On June 29, Alameda County stated it was pausing its reopening plan, given the recent increases in COVID-19 cases and hospitalization rates. What this means is that the County will continue in the current stage of reopening for longer than originally expected. This week, the Governor announced that many counties that had been reopening at a faster pace than Alameda County now have to roll back, as COVID-19 cases are spiking across California.

Here in Alameda, retail, outdoor dining, outdoor fitness, and religious and cultural ceremonies are allowed to open following County guidelines. Check out this new tool the City developed to help you identify what’s open.

Have a Safe 4th of July

mask poster

This 4th of July is unlike any other. We will miss our parade and seeing friends and neighbors, but it is critical to not gather with people you don’t live with. We must continue to do everything we can to protect the health of our community.

We encourage you to help us get the word out about the importance of staying home, and when out, wearing a face covering, maintaining at least 6 feet of physical distance, and washing your hands by entering our poster contest.

And we ask that you pledge to Get Around Safe, as COVID-19 is changing the way we get around and adding new potential dangers to everyday movements. Please, pledge to keep each other safe by making smart decisions when driving, walking, biking, and taking transit.

COVID-19 Testing

There are two types of tests available for COVID-19, a test that determines if you are infected with COVID-19 (Viral PCR) and a test for past infection (Antibody or Serology). You can find testing sites for both types of tests on this State website and you can find information about free testing on this County website.

Expanded Library Takeout Service

Starting July 6, the Alameda Free Library will be expanding service hours of the Library Takeout service. Library Takeout will now be available Monday through Friday from 12-5pm at the Main Library only. Place materials on hold ahead of time online or by calling 510-747-7740, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 12-5pm.

Street Sweeping Services Resume

Street sweeping services prevent trash and debris from entering the Bay. We recently resumed these critical services, and last Monday, following several weeks of courtesy notices to violators, we began issuing tickets to those in violation of posted street sweeping signs. Please, keep the Bay clean and help your neighbor at the same time by using your garage or driveway, if you have one, instead of using scarce on-street parking.
