The City of Alameda invites developers, property managers, and service providers to respond to a Homekey request for proposal (RFP). Homekey is a grant program administered by the California Department of Housing and Community Development that funds local public entities to (i) purchase and rehabilitate housing, including hotels, motels, vacant apartment buildings, and other buildings and convert them into interim or permanent, long-term housing, or (ii) undertake rapid new construction of permanent affordable housing (projected completion within 8 to 12 months of closing), e.g., modular construction or projects currently under construction or projects recently completed. If and when the State releases a Notice of Funding Availability, organization(s) selected through the City’s RFP process will be invited to submit, as a joint applicant with the City, a Homekey application for the project proposed.
In anticipation of the State releasing of a Homekey Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) in September 2021, the City is issuing this RFP.
