The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office announced today that it intends to file criminal charges against the three Alameda police officers involved in the in-custody death of Mr. Mario Gonzalez on April 19, 2021, after reopening the case in January 2023.
At this time, one of the three involved officers is no longer employed by the City of Alameda. The two other officers currently employed by the City of Alameda have been placed on administrative leave.
The City of Alameda remains deeply committed to transparency and accountability and will continue to share additional updates when new information is available.
