Sandbags available to Alameda residents beginning Tuesday, December 4

To help Alamedans prepare for storm season, the City of Alameda’s Public Works Department opens its sandbag station at Alameda Point on Tuesday, December 4, remaining open through the end of storm season. Public Works provides up to five (5) free sandbags for Alamedans who can show proof of residency, such as an Alameda Municipal Power bill or current driver’s license with an Alameda address.

For more information, please call 510-747-7900 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Some sandbags are already filled, although residents should be prepared to fill their own at the station. Please note our supplies are limited, and the sandbag station is typically closed during storms, as staff are occupied with storm-related service requests from the public and Alameda Police Department.

By working together, Alameda residents and Public Works can help lessen the impacts of storms this season. More tips on storm preparedness can be found at: http://alamedaca.gov/public-works/how-public-works-preparing-storm-season.
