A Heat Advisory is in place for September 9-10, 2026. The following cooling centers will be available for our community: the main library, bay farm, and west end will be open from 1000 to 1800; Mastic Center from 1000-1700 (if needed, may be extended); Main Library will extend hours until 1900 for the Stafford Room only (the library will be closed).

Alameda, California – In partnership with the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD), the Alameda Free Library will be offering Student Connect Codes to AUSD students in grades TK-12. Starting September 8th, students will automatically have access to the library’s print and electronic resources, all for free with no registration required.
Students can borrow up to 5 physical items, use library computers, and access digital resources such as e-books, e-audiobooks, Tutor.com, Mango Languages, and more. The Connect Code can be used at all Alameda Free Library locations: Main, West End, and Bay Farm Island.
The Main Library is located at 1550 Oak Street. The Main Library is served by AC Transit routes 21 and 51A. Bicycle parking racks are available at the library. Bay Farm Island Library is located at 3221 Mecartney Road. West End Library is located at 788 Santa Clara Avenue. All three locations are wheelchair accessible.
