Public Advised to Use Alternate Routes To Avoid Delays at Northbound I-880 at 66th Avenue Offramp Due to Coliseum COVID-19 Vaccination Traffic
OAKLAND—Caltrans suggests that residents and businesses located near the mass COVID-19 vaccination site at the Oakland Coliseum consult the agency’s QuickMap site, http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/, for alternatives to the northbound I-880 offramp at 66th Avenue or take Hegenberger Road or Interstate 580 to avoid backups.
Traffic delays have developed at the 66th Avenue offramp off northbound I-880 as motorists travel to and from the area accessing the vaccination site. The vaccination program is run by agencies including the Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services and the California National Guard.
The vaccination site is expected to operate from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day, seven days a week, for the next eight weeks and possibly longer. With this in mind, Caltrans suggests that local businesses and residents of the area seek alternative routes away from the 66th Avenue offramp off northbound I-880.
Please drive with caution. Slow for the Cone Zone and Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience while we work to maintain our state’s highways, bridges, and tunnels.
