Last week the City's Preparedness Campaign focused on preparing "go bags" filled with the crucial supplies you'll need to grab in case of an earthquake. This week, we're making on-the-go "go" bags. Because just like you need "go" bags in your home, you should have one in your office and/or car. That way you have a small stash of supplies available if there's an emergency situation when you're not home.

WEEK 6: Create On-The-Go "Go" Bags!

Your mission this week is to prepare bags for your car and/or for work. This is to ensure that you will have access to supplies you would need during an emergency, no matter when or where it strikes. These bags can be less extensive or smaller than the ones you have in your home.

Items in your bag should include but not be limited to:

  • Snacks
  • Water
  • Flashlight
  • Extra batteries
  • Portable radio
  • First Aid Kit and manual
  • Whistle
  • Hygiene Items
  • Lighter/ waterproof matches
  • Portable charger for phone
  • Sturdy shoes
  • Cold weather and rain gear
  • Shovel
  • Toilet paper
  • Any items specific to the needs of your family, like medicine, glasses and/or contact lens supplies, and items for babies

Don't forget your most important documents!

  • Emergency contact lists
  • Medical, insurance, and credit card information
