Community Preparedness

The City of Alameda Fire Department coordinates the City's emergency management and disaster preparedness program. We work with the Fire and Police Departments, City staff, partner agencies, businesses, and community members to reduce risk and prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural and human-caused disasters.

Residents can use the training programs, emergency notification systems, planning documents, and preparedness resources below to get ready.

2026 Emergency Disaster Planning Community Survey

This voluntary questionnaire helps the City understand who may need additional support during a major emergency or evacuation.

Completing this questionnaire does not guarantee that emergency assistance will be available and does not provide priority response, evacuation, transportation, or other emergency services. During a disaster, help may be delayed for several hours or days, or may not be available.

Everyone should have an emergency plan and enough food, water, medications, and other necessary supplies to be self-sufficient for at least one week.

Please submit an updated questionnaire if your address, phone number, emergency contact, or support needs change.

Personal preparedness

Are You Ready?

Everyone has a role in preparedness. The City's highest priority is the safety of its residents, but when disaster strikes, personal preparedness can reduce the impact on households and the entire community.

Build a kit, make a family plan, understand local hazards, and prepare enough supplies to be self-sufficient for at least one week.
