SUMMER TEEN VOLUNTEER PROGRAM FOR GRADES 6TH TO 12TH (Incoming Fall 2024) 

Are you looking to start somewhere for your volunteer hours?  Are you ready to develop your leadership and job skills, learn to be helpful and understand the younger youth in the community?  The Summer Teen Volunteer Program provides a learning opportunity for teens and tweens to work with Kindergarten to 4th Grade youth in ARPD's WOW Programs and develop their skills while also earning community service hours.

Teen Volunteers are responsible for assisting ARPD Program Leaders and facilitate WOW program activities such as sports, games and enrichment activities.  Volunteers will help with program set-up, break down, clean-up, preparations and various other duties assigned by ARPD Staff.

How Do I Apply?

  • Tweens/Teens must complete a 2024 Teen Volunteer Application Form(PDF, 546KB)
  • Submit your completed application form to the Alameda Recreation and Park Department, 2226 Santa Clara Ave, Alameda, CA 94501 NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 2024 BY 5:00 PM

PARENTS/GUARDIANS:

Your tween/teen is responsible for all correspondence regarding the Summer Teen Volunteer Program.  Questions, concerns, emails and phone calls regarding this program should come directly from your tween/teen.

All applicants must participate in a MANDATORY Group Interview to be held at the VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING, 2203 Central Ave, Room 390, Alameda from 4:00 pm to 4:45 pm (see schedule below): 

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Teens WILL NOT receive a confirmation or reminder for their interview.
  • Interviews DO NOT guarantee acceptance into the Teen Volunteer Program.

 THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP DATES FOR MISSED INTERVIEWS


Applicants who are accepted into the program will receive a registration form, which needs to be completed and turned in along with payment to ARPD no later than FRIDAY, MAY 24, 2024 BY 5:00 PM.

Cost:  $30 per session per week
Spaces are first-come, first-served and are limited.

 Applicants who do not pass their interview will be promptly notified.
If accepted, you MUST attend the Mandatory Teen Volunteer Program Training on:

4:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Veteran's Memorial Building, 2203 Central Ave, Room 390, Alameda
Again, Teens WILL NOT receive an email reminder for this training.
If you miss the training, you will be withdrawn from your session(s) and refunded, minus $20 withdrawal fee.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
