Underground Teen Shuttle

Underground Transportation Services:  The Teen Shuttle offers convenient after school transportation from AUSD Middle Schools to the Underground Teen Center.  Vans depart from school 10 minutes after the bell dismissal.
Transportation is not available on Public School Holidays, AUSD Staff Development Days or unscheduled early release days.
Be sure you register your tween/teen for the school he/she is attending.  Participants must be registered in this program before they are permitted to use the Underground Teen Shuttle.
Participants who use transportation, but DO NOT STAY at the UTC must sign-in and out in the UTC before leaving for the day.

How Do We Register?

REGISTER ONLINE or

  • Mail or Drop off your registration form to:  Alameda Recreation and Park Department, 2226 Santa Clara Ave, Alameda, CA 94501
  • Email your registration form to:  arpd@alamedaca.gov
  • Please register so we have emergency contact information for your tween/teen
The UTC Teens Afterschool Program emphasizes: 
 Recreational Activities (sports, active games, fitness)
 Enrichment Activities (arts & crafts, science, passive & social games, cooking)
 Youth Development (safety community/team building, positive relationship building, skill building)
Monday to Friday
Wednesday, August 20, 2025 to Thursday, June 4, 2026 

There is no program on holidays and other AUSD non-school days.

Early Dismissal Days: Underground Teen Center opens early ONLY if 2 or more Middle and/or High Schools dismiss early.  Inquire with Underground Teen Center Staff.

Pick Up Days & Times: 
 ARPD Vans depart 10 minutes after the school bell.
Underground Teen Center closes at 5:30 pm
*Transportation is offered from each school to The Underground Teen Center (UTC) based on participant needs.  Transportation is subject to cancellation by school site if ARPD deems that there is insufficient amount of students utilizing the service. Transportation is limited to participants of the UTC.
Fee Per Person: 
$2 per one-way trip payable at time of pick up
OR
Purchase a non-refundable $20 Ride Pass(good for 10 rides) from the Main ARPD Office (2226 Santa Clara Ave, Alameda).  Please note:  No refunds or replacement card issued for lost, damaged or stolen cards.  NO EXPIRATION DATE.
Transportation to the Teen Center is offered to students of the following schools:
Academy of Alameda (AOA) 
Alameda Community Learning Center (ACLC)
Junior Jets
Lincoln Middle School
NEA
Wood Middle School
Academy of Alameda:  Back gate at the corner of Poggi Street and Buena Vista Avenue 
Alameda Community Learning Center:  In front of school
Junior Jets:  Meet in front of the school sign
Lincoln Middle School:  Meet in the Drive-Up/Drive-Thru Line
NEA:  In front of the school
Wood Middle School:  Meet at the Passenger Loading Zone on Sandcreek Way

ARPD offer daily transportation to registered participants from their respective schools to the Underground Teen Center.  ARPD Staff makes every effort to arrive at dismissal time and will wait at the pick-up location for 10 minutes.  We have limited drivers and vehicles so if a Staff Member is not at the pick-up point immediately at dismissal time, please be patient as we have multiple locations with similar dismissal times to pick participants up from.

ARPD Drivers are limited to 9 passengers in a vehicle so if your participant does not make it into the van on the first pick-up, there will be another vehicle returning shortly to collect them.  See above for more information on cost per trip.

The Club Underground Program is located in The Underground Teen Center in the Veteran's Memorial Building, 2203 Central Ave, Room 170, Alameda, (510) 748-9466 

 

The Underground Teen Center closes at 5:30 pm each day so all participants must either sign self out or be picked up by 5:30 pm.

Starting at 5:31 p.m., a late fee of $1 per minute will be charged for late pick-ups, payable that day.

If you are more than 30 minutes late, we will contact the Alameda Police Department to pick up your tween/teen and take him/her to the Alameda Police Department. If late pick ups are a consistent problem, we will take further appropriate action.
