Portola Music Festival

The two-day Portola Music Festival is returning to San Francisco for its 3rd year on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, with special lineups each day from 1-11pm. In past years, noise and vibrations were heard and felt at various times throughout the City of Alameda. Event producers take the concerns of our residents seriously and are focusing a significant amount of energy and resources to mitigate the impacts on Alameda, including:

  • ending all outdoor music on Sunday by 10:45pm
  • lowering volume and base levels and making programmatic changes
  • changing the stage placement and conducting sporadic sound checks in the days before
  • monitoring audio levels at strategic locations in and around the site
  • having a community hotline in place during the event to enable sound adjustments in real time

Event organizers want to hear from you to understand what worked and develop solutions for what didn’t. Read more in this letter to neighbors(PDF, 372KB)The event permit application will be heard by the San Francisco Entertainment Commission on Tuesday, April 16, at San Francisco City Hall, Room 416, and via Zoom.
