 Alameda Aquatic Center Community Workshop Series

at Jean Sweeney Open Space Park (Corner of Wilma Chan Way and Atlantic Ave)

Meet on site with the City Council, Recreation and Park Commission, City Officials, and the Design-Build Team to discuss initial ideas for the new Alameda Aquatic Center. The joint session is to provide an opportunity for members of the City Council, Recreation and Park Commission, and community to be briefed on technical, programmatic, and site issues relevant to the New Aquatic Center project. There will be a public forum to ask questions and collect answers while at the project site.

2. Community Workshop #1 Gallery Walk and Presentation of Initial Concepts
Saturday, May 18, 2024
9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
at the Albert. H. Dewitt Officers' Club (O' Club)

The City of Alameda and the Design-Build Team are kicking off a community two-workshop series for the new pool project. The series will advance the community’s vision through the conceptual design process. By the second workshop, we will have gathered the consensus needed for a preferred concept. The workshops will be held in-person. The Design-Build Team and workshop attendees will collaborate to narrow the design to a preferred concept for further refinement and presentation at Workshop #2. Those unable to attend in-person can vote for a preferred option and offer any additional thoughts through the online survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AlamedaAquaticCenterWorkshop1 
The survey will open at the end of the in-person workshop and will remain open until Monday evening, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. The information presented at Workshop #1 will be available online through the City’s website: https://www.alamedaca.gov/Departments/Recreation-Parks/City-Aquatic-Center-Concept-Design-Development

3. Community Workshop #2 Presentation of Preferred Concept and Community Refining Charrette Process

The City of Alameda and the Design-Build Team are kicking off the second and final community workshop for the new pool project. During this workshop, the preferred concept will be presented, and the community will go through a charrette process to gather final thoughts and input. Those unable to attend in-person can vote online for a preferred option and offer any additional thoughts through the online survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AlamedaAquaticCenterWorkshop2 
The survey will open at the end of the in-person workshop and will remain open until Monday evening, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. The information presented at Workshop #2 will be available online through the City’s website: https://www.alamedaca.gov/Departments/Recreation-Parks/City-Aquatic-Center-Concept-Design-Development

Background:

On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, the City Council will be considering a City Aquatic Center and discussing whether or not to move forward with the project, where it should be located and how to fund it.
