Making the holidays special for all children by gifting to families, helping organizations feed those in need, or providing a gift to children living in low income situations is something many of us do every year. The Alameda Firefighters Toy Program (AFTP) is a nonprofit organization that works to identify families in need and provides toys or a gift card to them for the holidays.

In past years, the AFTP has collected and distributed toys and/or gift cards to more than 1,000 Alameda children and youth. This year we will continue giving gift cards to children 17 and under who are signed up and verified through local community agencies.

Families can apply online for this year’s gift cards if they are served by and qualify through the Alameda Food Bank, Alameda Head Start, Woodstock Child Development Center, or are residents of Alameda Point Collaborative or the Alameda Housing Authority.

The program is supported entirely by community volunteers and contributions. No funds are used for salaries or administration. We need the community’s help with cash contributions to enable us to purchase $35 Target gift cards for all the youth in need.

Donations are accepted on our GoFundMe page at https://gofund.me/69964bab or checks can be made out to AFTP and mailed to the Alameda Firefighters Toy Program, PO Box 6523, Alameda, CA 94501.

Together we can make the holidays happier for many Alameda children and families,
