Today, State public health officials lifted all regional stay at home orders. The Bay Area region’s ICU availability is 23.4%; in Alameda County, ICU availability is 30%. These improving conditions allow Alameda County to return to the most strict Purple Tier on the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, which allows outdoor dining and indoor salons to reopen among other sectors, following strict guidelines. The new health order takes effect tonight at 11:59pm.

In the City of Alameda, we have had 1,928 cases of COVID-19; 649 confirmed positive cases have been reported in the month of January alone. The COVID-19 pandemic is far from over, and we must continue wearing masks, avoiding gatherings and mixing with other households, maintaining physical distance, washing hands, and getting vaccinated when eligible.
