The following incidents represent a selection of the police activity that took place in April 2026. A complete monthly summary can be found at www.alamedaca.gov/data.
Attempted Kidnapping: On 4/10 at 12:57 pm, the Alameda Police Department received several calls about a man being restrained in the South Shore Shopping Center. Officers learned that the man accosted an individual and attempted to remove them from the center. A group of Good Samaritans responded to the victim’s calls for help and restrained the suspect. The individual was arrested for stalking, kidnapping, and contempt of court. #26-02128
DUI and Child Endangerment: On 4/13 at 12:35 am, officers responded to a collision near the intersection of Park Street and Blanding Avenue. Three young children were found unrestrained in one of the vehicles. The driver of the vehicle also showed signs of impairment. After a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), the driver was arrested for impaired driving and other offenses. #26-02170
Organized Retail Theft: On 4/17 at 12:58 pm, officers were notified of a theft from a South Shore Shopping Center business. After receiving intel from store security, three suspects were located near the intersection of Webster Street and Lincoln Avenue. Over $1,200 of stolen merchandise was recovered and returned. #26-02262
Simple Battery: On 4/29 at 11:23 am, officers responded to the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Benton Street for the report of a dispute between two drivers. A road rage incident escalated into a physical altercation. One of the drivers used pepper spray during the dispute. Both drivers were cited and released from the scene for their roles in the incident. #26-02505
Traffic Enforcement: APD officers issued 357 traffic citations and 312 warnings. There were 23 impaired driving arrests, 3 of which stemmed from collisions.
