The following incidents represent a selection of the police activity that took place in August 2025. A complete monthly summary can be found at www.alamedaca.gov/data.
Negligent Discharge of a Firearm:On 8/5, at 6:37 am, officers responded to the 1800 block of Poggi Street for the report of a possible shooting. Officers were initially told the victim was shot by an unknown assailant who had fled the scene. Upon further investigation, officers determined the victim’s injuries were self-inflicted due to the individual mishandling afirearm. The individual was arrested for multiple offenses, including making a false police report and being a felon in possession of a firearm. #25-04227
Assault with a Deadly Weapon:On 8/13 at 2:00 pm, officers responded to the 400 block of Central Avenue for the report of an assault. During a verbal altercation, the suspect struck the victim with a baseball bat. The suspect was not initially located after fleeing the scene. On 8/21, while investigating a separate incident at the Alameda Landing, an officer recognized the individual in the area. The suspect was arrested without incident. #25-04425
Attempted Bank Robbery:On 8/20, at 12:03 PM, officers responded to the 500 block of Willie Stargell Avenue for the report of a bank robbery. The suspect passed a threatening note to a teller demanding money. When the demand was not fulfilled, the individual left the property. Responding officers located and arrested the individual near Webster Street. #25-04569
Traffic Enforcement:APD officers issued 181 traffic citations and 142 traffic warnings.There were 9 impaired driving arrests, 3 of which stemmed from collisions.
