Alameda Police Month in Review - January 2024

The following incidents represent a selection of the police activity that took place last month. A complete monthly summary can be found at www.alamedaca.gov/data.

Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision: On 1/9 at 11:34 am, officers responded to the intersection of Eighth Street and Central Avenue for the report of a collision involving a person driving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation suggests the pedestrian crossed the street in a crosswalk but against the do not walk sign. The motorist entered the intersection on a green turn signal when the collision occurred. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for further medical evaluation. #24-00214

Assault with a Deadly Weapon: On 1/17 at 7:46 pm, officers responded to the 300 block of Stardust Place for the report of an altercation. Responding officers located one victim with a stab wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was located at the scene and taken into custody. #24-00402

Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision: On 1/19 at 7:38 am, officers responded to the intersection of Island Drive and Garden Road for the report of a collision involving a person driving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The investigation revealed an adult pedestrian crossing the street with the right-of-way was struck by a motorist attempting to merge into traffic. The pedestrian declined medical attention. #24-00425

Armed Robbery: On 1/24 at 12:08 pm, officers responded to the South Shore Shopping Center for the report of a robbery. A loss prevention officer attempted to prevent a theft when a firearm was brandished. On 1/27, an APD patrol officer spotted the suspect and took the person into custody. #24-00576

Burglary: On 1/29 at 10:00 am, officers responded to the 600 block of West Ranger Avenue for the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, officers located two suspects who had forcibly entered the property. Both individuals were taken into custody. #24-00681

Investigation Update: On 12/12 at 12:15 pm, officers responded to the 1700 block of Webster Street for the report of a robbery involving a firearm. The victims were approached by multiple individuals who demanded the victim’s property. It was determined that three suspects were involved in the incident. All three suspects have been taken into custody. #23-0840.

Traffic Enforcement: APD officers issued 136 traffic citations and 115 warnings.
