Alameda Police Month in Review - May 2024

The following incidents represent a selection of the police activity that took place last month. A complete monthly summary can be found at www.alamedaca.gov/data.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon: On 5/2 at 10:51 am, officers responded to the 1700 block of Webster Street for the report of an assault with a deadly weapon. During a verbal argument, the suspect produced a hatchet and attempted to strike the victim. The suspect was contacted in the area and taken into custody without incident. #24-02915

Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision: On 5/3 at 1:01 pm, officers responded to the intersection of Central Avenue and Alameda Avenue for the report of a collision between a person driving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The motorist failed to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk and collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. #24-02942

Theft: On 5/16 at 8:53 pm, officers responded to the 2700 block of Fifth Street for the report of an individual being detained by loss prevention officers. The suspect was stopped while attempting to exit the store with unpaid merchandise. The suspect was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and narcotics. The individual was arrested for multiple offenses. #24-03251

Vehicle and Bicyclist Collision: On 5/21 at 10:30 am, officers responded to the 1900 block of Encinal Avenue for the report of a collision involving a person driving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The initial investigation revealed a cyclist, who was traveling southbound, was struck by a motorist attempting to make a westbound turn. The bicyclist had a complaint of pain and was treated at the scene. #24-03337

Traffic Enforcement: APD officers issued 83 traffic citations and 61 warnings.
