
The following incidents represent a selection of the police activity that took place last month. A complete monthly summary can be found at www.alamedaca.gov/data.
Narcotics: On 10/1 at 1:46 pm, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop for a cellphone violation. During the stop, the officer learned the driver had court ordered sentence stipulations. In accordance with the court’s stipulations, a search of the vehiclewas conducted. The officer located astolen firearm, narcotics, multiple denominations of cash, and digital scales. The individual was taken into custody for multiple offenses. #24-06286
Arson:On 10/6 at 5:38 pm, officers responded to a brush fire at Jean Sweeney Park. The investigation determined the fire was intentionally set. With the help of witnesses and video evidence, a suspect was identified. On 10/8 the individual was seen at Longfellow Park and taken into custody. #24-06372
False Report of an Emergency: On 10/15 at 3:00 pm, APD personnel responded to calls reporting a potential armed individual inside of a restroom at Alameda High School. A shelter-in-place was initiated by the Alameda Unified School District and a search of the campus was conducted. At approximately 3:50 pm, officers completed their search and determined no suspicious activities or individuals were present. Our preliminary investigations suggest the calls placed to APD were likely a swatting (falsely reporting an emergency) incident. #24-06558
Battery:On 10/23 at 8:14 am, officers responded to a battery in the 2200 Block of Otis Drive. A suspect, in violation of a stay away order, struck an individual with an object when asked to leave the area. Before leaving, the individual brandished two knives. Officers later observed the individualwalking onto Alameda High School’s campus. Officers arrested the person. #24-06721
Burglary:On 10/31 at 8:26 pm, officers responded to the 800 block of Taylor Avenue for the report of an in-progress burglary. Officers learned that two individuals entered a home, brandished a firearm, and removed several items before leaving the area. One of the residents sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The case is now being handled by APD’s Investigations Unit. #24-06930
Traffic Enforcement:APD officers issued 133 traffic citations and 98 warnings.There were 11 DUI arrests.
