Guaranteed Income Program Accepting Applications Until Mon, Sept 18

The City of Alameda’s guaranteed income pilot program, Rise Up Alameda, will continue to accept applications for eligible households until 9:00 am on Monday, September 18. Eligible individuals can learn more at www.riseupalameda.org and apply directly at https://abtsurvey.com/Alameda.
Rise Up Alameda will provide 150 randomly selected low-income households with $1,000 per month for 24 months. The money has no strings attached and selected participants may use the payments in ways that best meet their basic needs. To be eligible to apply, applicants must be:
- A resident of the City of Alameda;
- 18 years of age or older; and
- Have a yearly household income at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI):

Applications for Rise Up Alameda will be accepted through an online portal available in multiple languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Arabic, Korean, and Vietnamese. In addition, the City is providing multilingual application support and free computer access—available on a first come, first serve basis—at the following remaining drop-in hubs:

The application includes questions to determine eligibility and asks for applicant consent to be included in a research study. It also includes an optional confidential survey, which asks applicants questions about their wellbeing, financial information, and demographic characteristics. In total, the application may take between 45-60 minutes to complete.
After the application period closes at 9 am on Monday, September 18, applicants will be internally screened for eligibility and 150 qualified participants will be randomly selected to participate. The City anticipates the first cash payments may be disbursed by the end of 2023.
