On March 18, the Alameda City Council will vote on an important agreement between the City and the Port of Oakland regarding the Oakland Airport’s terminal project. The agreement, negotiated with the community group CLASS – the Citizens League for Airport Safety and Serenity – aims to protect Alameda residents from potential increases in noise, pollution, and traffic that could be caused by the airport’s project. The agreement secures key wins for Alameda, including an improved airport noise plan for airplanes using OAK's North Field, new air quality monitoring and reporting, an affirmation of the airport's zero emissions operations goals, and local traffic planning measures to prevent roadway congestion in Alameda from users of the airport.
