Starting Wednesday, November 4, the City of Alameda is partnering with NextGen Laboratories to provide free COVID-19 testing in the City of Alameda. This new service is opening in a soft launch phase by appointment only, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, until further notice.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Alameda has had 472 COVID-19 cases and 15 related deaths. Countywide, there have been 23,775 cases and 463 deaths.

Alameda residents and businesses are working hard to ensure the health and wellbeing of our community, but the physical, financial, and social impacts of this disease are widespread and long-lasting. We must continue to protect ourselves and each other. Access to COVID-19 testing is an important tool to keep our community healthy. A positive test can tell you if you are infected so you can take proactive steps to avoid infecting others.

"Many people who have COVID-19 have no symptoms. Testing is one way Alameda residents and workers can learn if they have the disease so they can avoid transmitting it to others," stated Alameda Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft. "We must also continue to follow public health guidelines to protect ourselves and others – wear your mask whenever you leave home, stay six feet away from anyone who doesn’t live with you, and wash your hands frequently."
