Eight Alameda firefighters quarantined in response to one confirmed case of COVID-19
Following a positive test of an Alameda firefighter on March 10, the County health department’s investigation identified and directly contacted anyone who might have been exposed to COVID-19. Eight Alameda firefighters were identified in that investigation. Per Alameda County Public Health Department protocols, those firefighters are in isolation awaiting test results.
Alameda fire stations are fully staffed with no reduction in our capability to respond to calls. Our first responders have the training and equipment they need to stay safe and protect our community. In addition, this week the Alameda Fire Department accelerated the swearing in of new recruits. These new firefighters are prepared and trained to protect and serve.
