FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Sunday, November 8, 2020, at 10:45 p.m., the Alameda Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Park Street and Shoreline Drive. Following the call, multiple units were immediately dispatched to the area.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim who had been shot in the 400 block of Park Street. Suffering from life-threatening injuries, officers immediately rendered medical aid until members of the Alameda Fire Department arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
During the preliminary investigation, patrol officers learned the suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. APD’s Violent Crimes Unit was contacted and will now take the lead on the homicide investigation. The preliminary investigation suggests there was a dispute between the victim and suspect(s) prior to the shooting and this was not a random crime. Anyone with information that may assist in our investigation is encouraged to contact APD’s Violent Crimes Unit at 510-337-8538.
The Alameda Police Department is deeply saddened and outraged by this selfish and vicious crime. Our condolences go out to the family members of the deceased.
This investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time. Media inquiries should be directed to Jeanette Thompson at 510-337-8402 or jthompson@alamedaca.gov.
