Update on Public Transit: Bay Area Rapid Transit and AC Transit are maintaining regular service; reductions to Ferry service

BART will continue to provide regular service for riders performing essential activities and for riders travelling to and from “essential business” work, with long enough trains to allow for social distancing. Increased cleaning and disinfecting are continuing in stations and trains.

AC TRANSIT continues to run regular service with the exception of supplemental service to schools. Should the need arise, AC Transit will implement modified service.

FERRY service is being reduced on the Alameda/Oakland route. Full information and schedules are available at sanfranciscobayferry.com/news/shelter.

Update on Parking Enforcement:

As we continue to navigate these rapidly evolving events, the following parking enforcement adjustments are being implemented:

  • As of now, Alameda’s Public Works Department suspended street sweeping services until Friday, March 20, 2020. With this suspension, APD is not enforcing street sweeping zone violations. As new developments continue, street sweeping services and enforcement may change.
  • Flagrant parking violations *will* still be enforced – blocking a sidewalk/driveway, expired meters, double parking, disabled parking/red zones violations, etc.
  • The Abandoned Vehicle Unit will primarily focus on vehicles that display cobwebs, leaves, debris buildup, accumulated dirt, low tires, and have missing/broken/deteriorating parts. For the time being, if a vehicle is reported to APD and does not display the signs of being truly abandoned and is parked in its respected neighborhood, the vehicle will not receive an orange courtesy warning.

As many Alameda residents and business owners continue to practice safe and smart social distancing during the current shelter-in-place order, we ask residents to help make space for everyone and to be courteous by utilizing their garages and driveways when parking vehicles.
