Monthly Update from the Alameda Police Department: September 2025

The following incidents represent a selection of the police activity that took place in September 2025. A complete monthly summary can be found at www.alamedaca.gov/data.
Gambling Operation: On 9/2, at 9:00 am, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Haight Avenue after receiving reports of an illegal gambling den. Officers located and removed multiple slot machines, table games, firearms, ammunition, cash, and drug paraphernalia. Two people were issued citations, and the case was referred to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for additional charges. #25-04368
DUI: On 9/7, at 7:27pm, an officer observed a vehicle nearly colliding with another driver after making an unsafe turn. The officer conducted a traffic stop and could smell the strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside of the vehicle. Additionally, an open container was observed sitting in plain view. After a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, the driver was arrested for DUI. #25-04958
Embezzlement: On 9/19, at 1:32 pm, officers responded to the 2700 block of 5th Street for a late reported theft. An employee was found to have embezzled more than $35,000 over the course of two months. After multiple conversations with detectives, the suspect voluntarily surrendered on 10/6. #25-05217
Robbery: On 9/21, at 11:47 pm, officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 200 block of Brush Street. Officers learned two victims were approached and robbed at gunpoint. During the robbery, one person was struck by gunfire and was transported by AFD to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators identified the suspects and determined they were known to the victims. On 9/25, one of the suspects was taken into custody. On 10/6, the second suspect voluntarily surrendered to officers. #25-05254
Traffic Enforcement: APD officers issued 194 traffic citations and 177 traffic warnings.
