As part of the Clement Avenue project construction, the City of Alameda will be removing existing railroad tracks and preparing Clement Avenue for paving this Thursday evening, May 2, starting at 10pm. This work is similar to what has been completed on Clement Avenue between Broadway and Willow in recent weeks.

What to Expect:

  • Nighttime Closure: The Park Street and Clement Avenue intersection will close on Thursday, May 2, at 10:00 pm, and reopen by Friday, May 3, at 6:00 am.
  • Detours: Detours will be in place during the late-night closure.
  • Paving & Noise: Pavement work will continue on Clement Avenue throughout Friday morning, May 3. Expect noise outside of the usual construction hours (7 am - 7 pm), particularly for the blocks between Broadway and Oak.
  • Project Progress: Upon completion of this work, two-way traffic will return to Clement Avenue, and on-street parking will be restored where available.
  • Next Phase: Intermittent detours and parking restrictions may still be necessary as construction continues, leading to final paving, improved pedestrian access,  and the installation of a two-way separated bikeway later this year.
