Detail of Calimar, by artist Rossella Scapini
Work recently began on the installation of Calimar, a large bronze sculpture slated for the Alameda Point shoreline, near the WETA Central Bay Operations and Maintenance Facility. The artwork, by artist Rossella Scapini, depicts a squid with tentacles working as arches and columns, allowing people to walk between the inner and outer space they create.
The installation of the artwork is currently scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, November 4, but may shift due to rain forecasted for that day.

Second Friday Art Talks

Grab a drink, settle in and let the art talk lift your spirits right from your very own couch! With the world facing so many challenges, artists are deeply impacted. With limited exhibitions, shows to perform at or patrons at their studios, the economic and social impact on artists is immeasurable. You are invited to a panel discussion led by Victor Mavedzenge in collaboration with ArtPush.org where artists discuss their state, coping mechanisms and hopes for the future.
