Alameda Police Officers are investigating the suspicious death of a man who was found in a parking lot.

Around 1:45 pm on Thursday, April 21, Officers responded to the report of an unresponsive male in the rear of a commercial parking lot near Blanding Avenue and Broadway. It appears attempts were made to conceal the man. A business patron spotted the body and called 9-1-1. Alameda Police Officers and Firefighters arrived and pronounced the man deceased.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the person’s death and identity are unknown. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau will be responsible for determining the cause of death.

APD Officers have been tirelessly pursuing credible leads to understand the circumstances around the man’s passing. To protect the integrity of the investigation, there is little else we can share at this time. As new details and vetted facts become available, APD may seek the community’s assistance. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to get to identify how this tragedy occurred.
