Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) Requirements

The essential criteria to be completed for a 30 day temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO), ahead of a final certificate of occupancy are as follows:

  • All life safety
  • Emergency lighting and exit signs
  • Building address posted and visible from the street
  • Mailbox
  • After hours emergency light meter test (if required)
  • All 11B provisions (ADA), including signs, path of travel and parking
  • Green Halo (Public Works recycling requirement)
  • All mechanical heating and conditioning operational
  • Flush and Tag water supply systems constructed of CPVC or PEX per CPC 604.1.2
  • Elevator certification (if required)
  • Health Department sign off (if required)
  • All applicable FEMA certification documents
  • Fire Department sign off (including electrical generators)
  • Public Works sign off
