How to Check the Status of your Permit

You can view the history and status of your permit any time by visiting Accela Citizen Access (ACA). The instructions below will guide you to check the current plan review status of your permit and how to download a comment letter if you receive one. A Hold Notice Sent status indicates that particular plan review department has plan check comments. If you receive any comment letters from the reviewing departments with corrections, you may download them for review.

Please note that all reviewing departments must complete their review before you can resubmit plans to address the plan check comments. You should receive a Hold Notice email from your Permit Technician indicating that the round of plan review has been completed before you submit a response to plan check comments. You must schedule an appointment with your Permit Technician to review your resubmittal before the next round of plan review can begin.

To access the Accela Citizen Access Portal to check the status of your permit, click on the link below.

From the Accela Citizen Access Portal:

1. You do not need to sign in to check status of existing permits.
2. Click on Search Applications in the Building Tab (for Fire “F” Permits use Fire tab)
3. Enter your Permit Number and click Search.
4. Select your permit.
5. The Record info menu provides options to check Processing Status.
6. Under the Record Info Tab, select Attachments.
7. Click on the file names that are described as Hold Letters to download.

Processing Status will show you what has been completed and what is still pending.

• A green check mark means that process/department review has been completed.
• An hourglass means that process is still pending.
• The processing status will also show you the initials of the Permit Technician who is assigned to your permit.

Attachments will show you what documents/plans are included in your permit file. You will not be able to download or view copyrighted files through ACA public portal. You will be able to download plan check comment letters. The plan check comments letters should have instructions on how to resubmit. 

Inspections will show you all recorded inspection notes.
